We need more people like this in congress!
Call Congressman Collin Peterson Washington # 1-202-225-2165
Tell him to support H.R. 1139

Congressman Ron Paul's following statement accompanied the introduction of H.R. 1139, the
Tax Free Tips Act.

Mr. Speaker, I rise to help millions of working Americans by introducing the Tax Free Tip Act.
As the title suggests, this legislation exempts tips from federal income and payroll taxes. Tips
often compose a substantial portion of the earnings of waiters, waitresses, and other service-
sector employees. However, unlike regular wages, a service-sector employee usually has no
guarantee of, or legal right to, a tip. Instead, the amount of a tip usually depends on how well an
employee satisfies a client. Since the amount of taxes one pays increases along with the size of
the tip, taxing tips punishes workers for doing a superior job!

Many service-sector employers are young people trying to make money to pay for their
education, or single parents struggling to provide for their children. Oftentimes, these workers
work two jobs in hopes of making a better life for themselves and their families. The Tax Free
Tips Act gives these hard-working Americans an immediate pay raise. People may use this pay
raise to devote more resources to their children's, or their own, education, or to save for a home,
retirement, or to start their own businesses.

Helping Americans improve themselves by reducing their taxes will make our country stronger. I
therefore hope all my colleagues will join me in cosponsoring the Tax Free Tips Act.

Dear Conservatives,

I’m writing this for the Sibley County Republican’s website. So, I wish all of you will put sibleygop.org in your favorites and go there from time to time and check it out for updates and events. But in the mean time I have many e-mails here that I wish to inform friends and family about the 7th Congressional District Republican Convention this past weekend in Redwood Falls.

I am considering this a historic event in the 7th CD’s history. The old guard was handily defeated by an overwhelming majority. The incumbent, Craig Bishop from McLeod County, received 118 votes out of the 194 votes cast for the chairman position, and easily beat out Pete Balega from Becker County.  I’m definitely with the new guard and prejudiced in my writing about this, so I’m very excited!  Next was the Deputy Chair position, Betty Staebler from Otter Tail County, the incumbent, was challenged by Tea Party favorite Barb Chervestad from Pennington County. The vote was 126 for Barb out of the 194 cast. Then we had the Vice Chair positions, there was 6 positions and 8 people running. It was amended at the convention that the top 6 vote getters be our vice-chairs instead of having to win by a majority vote. The winners were Don Hoverston of Meeker County, Doug Lindgren of Clearwater County, Ray Rivera and Dan Johanneck both from Redwood County, Arles Kumpula from Otter Tail County.  And last but not least our very own Brandon Ronning from Sibley County, Arlington.  Even though they did not need majority all of these did win by majority vote.  Mike Lokken of Meeker County and John Nething of Kandiyohi County ran uncontested for Secretary and Treasurer respectively.  We also elected Scott Dutcher of Douglas County as our Executive Vice Chair, he will be the 7CD representative on the Sate Executive Committee.  I believe this is an excellent group of people to carry the unified Republican brand forward into the future. And let’s start winning elections!

This was a remarkable turn out for an off election year.  194 Delegates turned out of 264 possible makes it a very well attended Convention. You could feel the excitement in the air coming off of the many Republican victories this past November.  We are looking forward to many more republican victories in 2012.  Lee Byberg also announced that he will be seeking the 7th CD nomination which was greeted with enthusiastic applause by everyone in attendance. Go, Lee!

Sincerely,

Nathan Kranz

Secretary, Sibley County Republicans
